Our preschool program is focused on teaching the skills that will be necessary in kindergarten. A standardized assessment is used to determine what skills will be taught for each child. Each child is assigned a behavior technician, using ABA techniques, to teach their individual goals. Each child has 1:1 therapy, while learning in a group setting. The group runs from 9am to 12pm daily. Learners may remain in clinic to work on individualized skills after group, depending on their individual needs. Most learners attend between the hours of 9 and 3pm.
An important aspect of the preschool program is the ability to practice social skills with same aged peers. Social goals are chosen, based on standardized assessment, for each child and those goals are taught to mastery in session by the behavior technician. Social skills for pretend play, taking turns, waiting in line, self advocacy, choral response, and friendship are part of the daily curriculum.
The preschool program runs on a set schedule that has varied activity. By having a set routine, the children learn to follow a schedule and predict what is happening next. By varying the activities within that schedule, we teach flexibility and adaptation to change. The children have circle time, centers, gross motor play, music and movement, sensory play, and individual work time. What happens within those time periods varies each week based on the theme of the month.
The preschool program is actively accepting applicants for July assessment and August 2024 start date.
Insurance options are available for children with ASD diagnosis.
