Durham Clinic 3:00-5:00 pm
Our afternoon social skills group focuses on how to build and maintain friendships. By following a group plan and schedule, we teach flexibility and adaptation to peer choices. Our learners in this age group are assessed using the Socially Savvy Assessment. Goals and objectives are individualized for each learner and are taught in small groups of 4-6 learners with one RBT.
If the child is not ready to attend group without 1:1 support, an RBT can be individually assigned so that the child can participate in group with support.
The children who participate attend on the schedule that is determined to best meet the needs for that learner and can range from 2-5 days per week. A BCBA will conduct an assessment of skills to determine if the child is appropriate for social skills group or if they should participate with 1:1 support.
Have a child who is not ready to attend group?
We offer sessions to clients who need 1:1 ABA therapy to prepare for group skills. These clients can push into groups that are occurring in clinic with their assigned therapist, as their skills match the group, or can be paired with other clients who are at a similar skill level.
